Being Green is NiFTy!

At Network Foundation Technologies (NiFTy), we pride ourselves on promoting Green Technology; technology that encourages and supports environmentally friendly solutions.

Computer usage, both consumer and industrial, accounts for a significant portion of overall power consumption. The manufacturing of this power typically draws on limited natural resources. Viewing online video will increasingly account for a greater portion of computer usage. According to a recent report by Cisco Networks, online video viewing will increase from its current one-third of Internet traffic in 2009, to 91% of all Internet traffic by the year 2013. In 2013, Internet video alone will be nearly 700 times the entire U.S. Internet backbone in 2000.*

As an online broadcasting company, NiFTy is concerned about the impact to our environment.

NiFTy's patented distributed broadcasting technology utilizes the shared computing capacity of its viewers to maximize the efficiency of online broadcast networks, and literally and dramatically reduce the number of power-hungry video servers needed to support the broadcast, when compared to traditional CDN (Content Delivery Network) broadcasters. In fact, as the number of viewers increases for NiFTy-powered broadcasts, the energy and server efficiencies can actually improve.

Given that online Internet video will account for the overwhelming majority of all Internet traffic by 2013, any reduction in the amount of equipment and power consumption required to service this demand has a clear impact on the environment.

We at NiFTy are pleased to help contribute to environmentally sound and friendly technology practices, and we encourage our viewers to do the same.

NiFTy Technology Is Green Technology!
